Of the 5,885 participants in the bloody battles of the Great Patriotic War, hailing from the city of Penjikent, only one remains alive: Kholmakhmad Kholikov, a resident of the Saroybog mahalla in the village of Kuloli in the Rudaki jamoat. The veteran will soon turn 100 years old. He is also one of those awarded the "For Valiant Service during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945" medal.


On Victory Day, the veteran was visited by a representative of the executive bodies of state power of the Sughd region, the head of the Agency for Supervision of Education and Science in the Sughd region, Akmaljon Okilzoda, and the head of the city of Penjikent, Abdukholik Kholikzoda.
They congratulated Kholmakhmad Kholikov on Victory Day and presented him with congratulations and a one-time financial aid grant on behalf of the Chairman of the Sughd Region, Rajab Akhmadzoda, and the city's local executive authorities.
During the conversation with the veteran, it was emphasized that the country's government always has deep respect for the faithful service and exploits of war participants.
